2013 Plane
A Piper airplane crashed off the coast of Cat Cay Island in the Bahamas. TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale quickly mobilized their salvage team and responded aboard the 96' salvage vessel Richard L. Becker, along with a 16' aluminum towboat. The crew used lift bags and the shallow-draft towboat to maneuver the aircraft into deeper water. Once in deep enough water for the Richard L. Becker to pull alongside, the plane was lifted and secured onto the deck using the vessel’s knuckle boom crane. The aircraft was then transported back to the states for inspection and further evaluation.
