52’ Lagoon
TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale responded to a 52’ Lagoon catamaran that caught fire offshore of Boca Inlet. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze while our crew secured a tow line and towed the vessel into shallower water. The vessel ultimately sank in approximately 12 feet of water due to the large volume of water used to extinguish the fire. Our salvage team developed and executed a recovery plan using divers to rig lifting straps and a crane barge to raise the vessel to the surface. Once lifted, dewatering pumps were used to remove the remaining water before the catamaran was placed on a barge and transported to shore, where it was inspected and properly disposed of.
